A bucket of flowers for you!

bucket 003

Imagine my surprise when Mr. D came home one day with a pot of these  gorgeous flowers……..for ME!!!! Of course the plastic pot they came in wouldn’t do so I plopped them in one of these zinc buckets I found while in Texas last month. I have been debating on whether to paint a number on the front  of the bucket or not. What do think……number or no number? Hope you all have a fabulous holiday weekend filled with lots of sunshine!!!!!!

It seems as though the sunshine will never shine again……it just keeps raining and raining! So, what’s a girl to do? Decorate of course! I have been working on the dining room on and off for quite a while trying to find the perfect mix of old and new to achieve the perfect French farmhouse feeling for the room. Finally one day I realized that the sideboard while quite beautiful was truly too big for the wall it was on. I agonized for quite a while on whether I should just live with it or sell the piece and replace it with something that better fit the space. Of course while out and about one day I stumbled upon this wonderful reproduction French baker’s table and knew it was the  perfect piece for the spot. So, while it was hard to say good bye to the sideboard as soon as this piece was in it’s new home I knew I had made the right decision. Some things are just meant to be………

Happy Mother’s Day!

peonies 010

When we bought our first house which was an old bungalow I inherited the most gorgeous Peonies  bushes I had ever seen. I was so smitten with the gorgeous pink flowers that I decided to clip a few and bring them inside to put in a vase on the dining room table. I placed them in a beautiful crystal vase on the kitchen counter and made a quick run to the store. When I returned there were zillions of little ants all over the counter AND the flowers. From then on I always washed them well before cutting and placing the stems in a vase. Hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
